Texas Brisket Chili Recipe 🌶️🍲
Ingredients:
- 2 lbs beef brisket, trimmed and cut into 1-inch cubes
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 2 tbsp chili powder
- 1 tbsp cumin
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1 tsp oregano
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
- 1 can (15 oz) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 can (15 oz) pinto beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 cup beef broth
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
- Shredded cheddar cheese, sour cream, and chopped green onions for garnish
Instructions:
1. In a large pot or Dutch oven, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add brisket cubes and cook until browned on all sides. Remove brisket and set aside.
2. In the same pot, add chopped onion and garlic. Cook until the onion is softened.
3. Stir in chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, oregano, salt, and black pepper. Cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
4. Add browned brisket back to the pot. Stir in diced tomatoes, kidney beans, pinto beans, beef broth, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, and brown sugar.
5. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat to low. Cover and simmer for 2-3 hours, stirring occasionally, until the brisket is tender.
6. Stir in chopped cilantro.
7. Serve hot with shredded cheddar cheese, sour cream, and chopped green onions.
