💧 DIY Rich Water Fertilizer: Nourish Your Garden the Natural Way
Looking to give your plants and garden a nutrient boost without breaking the bank? Look no further than your kitchen sink! With just a few simple steps, you can create a rich water fertilizer that will feed your plants and promote lush, vibrant growth.
Ingredients:
- Eggshells
- Banana peels
- Vegetable scraps (e.g., carrot tops, lettuce leaves)
- Water
Instructions:
1. Collect eggshells, banana peels, and vegetable scraps from your kitchen. These kitchen scraps are rich in nutrients like calcium, potassium, and nitrogen, which are essential for plant growth.
2. Rinse the eggshells to remove any remaining egg white or yolk, then crush them into small pieces. This will help them break down more quickly in the water.
3. Cut the banana peels and vegetable scraps into smaller pieces to speed up decomposition.
4. Place the eggshells, banana peels, and vegetable scraps in a large container, such as a bucket or a gallon-sized jug.
5. Fill the container with water, covering the scraps completely. Use filtered water if possible to avoid any chemicals or contaminants that may be present in tap water.
6. Stir the mixture well to ensure the water comes into contact with all the organic matter.
7. Cover the container loosely with a lid or a piece of cloth to allow air circulation and prevent mosquitoes from breeding.
8. Let the mixture sit for about one to two weeks, stirring occasionally. During this time, beneficial bacteria and microorganisms will break down the organic matter, releasing nutrients into the water. It will smell - and keep it away from your home in case it attracts bugs!
