🍃 ⚘ 🍃

To make calendula herbal salve, you'll need the following ingredients and materials:

Ingredients:

- 1 cup of dried calendula flowers
- 1 cup of carrier oil (such as olive oil, coconut oil, or sweet almond oil)
- 1/4 cup of beeswax pellets or grated beeswax
- Optional: a few drops of essential oils for fragrance (such as lavender or tea tree oil)

Materials:
- Double boiler or makeshift double boiler (a heat-safe bowl set over a pot of simmering water)
- Fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth
- Heat-resistant containers for storing the salve (such as glass jars or tins)
- Stirring utensil (such as a wooden spoon or spatula)
- Labels for labeling the finished salve

Instructions:

1. Infuse the Oil:
   - In a double boiler, combine the dried calendula flowers and carrier oil.
   - Heat the mixture over low heat for 1-2 hours, stirring occasionally to prevent burning.
   - Remove from heat and allow the mixture to cool slightly.

2. Strain the Oil:
   - Once the oil has cooled, strain it through a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth into a clean bowl or container.
   - Squeeze out as much oil as possible from the calendula flowers.

3. Prepare the Beeswax:
   - Return the strained oil to the double boiler and add the beeswax pellets or grated beeswax.

   - Heat the mixture over low heat until the beeswax is completely melted, stirring occasionally to combine.

4. Optional: Add Essential Oils:
   - If desired, add a few drops of essential oils to the melted oil and beeswax mixture for fragrance and added benefits. Stir well to combine.

5. Pour into Containers:
   - Carefully pour the melted salve mixture into clean, heat-resistant containers, such as glass jars or tins.
   - Allow the salve to cool and solidify at room temperature. This may take several hours.

6. Label and Store:
   - Once the salve has solidified, label the containers with the date and ingredients used.
   - Store the calendula herbal salve in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight. It will keep for several months to a year, depending on storage conditions.

To use the calendula herbal salve, simply apply a small amount to the affected area as needed for soothing relief. This homemade salve is perfect for soothing minor skin irritations, cuts, scrapes, burns, insect bites, and dry skin.
